Vision Impact (Eye Care Services) Project

The Vision Impact (Eye Care Services) Project is an initiative of the Ministry of Health in Kenya in collaboration with Peek Vision Limited and Christian Blind Mission. This initiative was inaugurated in March 2022 and will be rolled out in 10 counties in Kenya. It aims to deploy a novel smartphone technology, “Peek Technology”, that will be used by teachers and community healthcare workers to detect eye problems at the grassroots level.

LVFocus aims to support the Vision Impact (Eye Care Services) Project and provide a variety of teaching and training sessions to support and strengthen the knowledge base and clinical skills of eye-care professionals taking part in the project.

We will provide specialist teaching to a range of healthcare professionals in order to train them to take care of the patients detected by the Vision Impact (Eye Care Services) Project.

We also aim to support the eye-care professionals expected to perform eye examinations and refractions within the school based and community screening programmes as well as promote and support the delivery of sustainable regional eye-care and refractive services.

OAK

Optometrists Association of Kenya

We have established a collaboration with the Optometrists Association of Kenya (OAK) in order to provide targeted teaching sessions to its 220 members as well as optometry colleagues in neighbouring countries.

The online teaching sessions are run on a monthly basis with Continuing Medical Education (CME) accreditation for OAK members, contributing to furthering their specialist education. Surveys have identified knowledge gaps within the group and continuous feedback guides the selection of topics that are covered in future sessions.
